Laura made her glamorous version of our New Pintuck Cami pattern in gorgeous gold embellished cotton. You can find more of her makes on Instagram @thespeckyseamstress

Well if 2020 has confirmed anything wardrobe-wise, it's that comfy clothes are a must.  You know, those golden garments that can transition from sleep wear to day wear right through the work-at-home/zoom drinks with the girls spectrum have jumped right to the top of your go to makes. And the Pintuck cami ticks those boxes nicely, with "wide enough to hide your bra" straps and a detail that just elevates it from your basic cami.

My version is made up in the gorgeous turquoise geode quilting cotton that has gorgeous shades of blues and aquas - all my favourite things, and I think the pintucks work well with the print, don't you?

I used a navy thread throughout, which worked even better than I thought. I always struggle with thread choice on a multicoloured print!

I've been sewing a couple of years but I've never sewn pintucks before - so I was a little nervous!  But I had nothing to fear as the pattern helps you out and there's extra blog posts to help newbies like me too! So if you've never sewn pintucks before, give them a go and then join me in my "LOOK AT MY PIN TUCKS" pose (and tag me and Crafty Sew and So when you do!). This pose is becoming a regular for me when I learn a new skill!

With my bust measurement at 46, I made up the large but added a smidge of wiggle room from the armscye down to the bust - not a true full bust adjustment but it worked really well, you could just reduce your seam allowance in this area as you sew too, depending on how much room you want to add!

I've got my sleep shorts ready to sew and I can't remember the last time I had a matching pj set, so I'm rather excited by the prospect, although in reality these are such versatile pieces they'll probably rarely be in the same part of the wash cycle as one another.

I've paired the cami with jeans for the ultimate comfy at home style - but I'm excited to try it out with some of my skirts and shorts through the seasons.

A simple sew that works well in a whole range of fabrics is always a welcome addition to my pattern stash (library?) and I think you can really have fun with your fabric choice here - go with a stylish solid to really showcase that pintuck detail, or go bold with a print. I'm looking forward to seeing some stripey versions made up because I think that will be really interesting with the pin tucks.

Happy sewing!
Laura
