Silk-Finish Cotton 28 is a high-quality cotton thread which can set lovely emphases. Through its thickness, Silk-Finish 28 is excellent for lock-stitching, hand quilting or hand embroidery. Furthermore, wonderful effects on decorative applications, ornamental stitching and applications can be achieved with this thread of 100% long staple, Egyptian cotton. It can also be used for buttonholes or for sewing the hemline of jeans. We love it for top-stitching!  The mercerization process provides high tensile strength, heat resistance and has greatly reduced shrinkage. 80m

If you need a really strong thread for your project, we recommend using our mercerized 50 or 60.  These are not quite so thick, but they will stand out when used for top stitching and they are very strong.
