Dressmaking: Trousers or Culottes
Make a pair of trousers with us in our NEW workshop!
The patterns chosen include features suitable for beginners and improving dressmakers alike.
This workshop will equip you with essential skills you will use in many makes to come!
Choose from the following patterns:
- Simplicity pattern 8299 - elasticated waist (Suitable for beginner dressmakers)
- Simplicity pattern 8092 - pleated front with invisible back zip (Suitable for intermediate dressmakers)
Please let us know which pattern you would like to make in the notes at the checkout.
What you will learn:
Measure yourself to decide which size to make
Cut fabric using a pattern
Sew straight, neat seams with the correct seam allowance.
Finish raw edges on the inside of your garment
Attach a facing or binding to finish the neckline/armholes
Finish a hem
Make a garment from scratch

You will need to bring or buy from our shop:
Fabric - requirements will be given on confirmation of the order
- If you are unsure which pattern to make please bring 1.5-2m woven fabrics, linen, viscose twill or light weight denims are all good options
You are welcome to buy fabrics from our range or bring your own. We recommend you pre-wash all fabrics to be used in dressmaking so please allow time for this.
We will take a short break for lunch so please bring food or money to buy lunch in one of the lovely local cafes nearby.
