Crafty Sewing Camp - FAQs
Will you join us for Crafty Sewing Camp?
August 11th - 13th 2023 at Beaumanor Hall, Leicestershire
Tickets available NOW!
The Crafty Sewing Camp is organised by Freya and Sarah from Crafty Sew&So. We are enthusiastic and passionate about the sewing community and providing an inclusive, creative event where you can build friendships and learn new skills with like-minded sewists.
The Camp is a three-day event where you enjoy re-living the classic 'Summer camp' experience while immersing yourself in the sewing community and spend the whole weekend sewing! You can spend the whole weekend indulging in your favourite hobby with friends with nothing else to worry about!
Beaumanor Hall is a beautiful Victorian country house located in Woodhouse, Leicestershire. The facilities we will be using include classrooms with plenty of plug sockets and natural light, a large sports hall where the market will be taking place and there will be space for socialising and handcrafts, a large open grass space for relaxing and some outdoor sewing (weather permitting), a dedicated campfire space and dorm blocks with social break-out areas.
The estate is set in 34 acres of idyllic countryside, Beaumanor has been run by Leicestershire County Council since the 1970’s and plays host to a variety of events including weddings, conferences, kids activity days and Scouts and Guide camps.
FAQs
What should I pack for camp?
Please pack comfortable clothes, including activewear if you are interested in taking part in some outdoor activities and, of course, your sewing machine!
We suggest you bring a pre-cut dressmaking project or small sewing project as cutting table space will be limited.
Please bring your own bed linen and pillow as there will be none provided- a sleeping bag is ideal.
Here's a handy packing list:
Can we bring alcohol?
Absolutely, we just ask that you drink responsibly.
What will our rooms be like?
Accommodation will be in “dorm-style” rooms. Rooms sleep 15-20 in bunk beds or 2-people in private bunkbed rooms. Private rooms are limited and incur an additional subsidy.
If you let us know the names of your friends that are attending in the notes section when booking, we will attempt to put you in a room together.
What will we be eating?
Catering will be provided by External caterers.
Last year we had pizza for dinner when we arrived on Friday night, breakfast, sandwich and finger food lunch and Burritos for dinner on Saturday. Then we had breakfast and sandwich platter lunch on Sunday before leaving. Morning and afternoon tea will also be provided with refreshment facilities available throughout the day. Feel free to bring a few extra snacks too.
Dietary requirements will be gathered at the time of booking- please add any requirements in the notes section at booking.
What will we be doing at camp?
Friday night will be a settling-in time with the sports hall open and time to socialise and discuss projects for the weekend.
Saturday will provide time to sew or attend a workshop (depending on which workshop you register for - details will be shared at a later date) and Sunday morning will be free sewing time with a short workshop planned, again bookable at a later date.
We will be having social events on Friday night with campfire sing-along and games and Saturday night with a themed party.
There will be chill-out spaces and refreshments available throughout the day.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, you can pay 50% deposit on all tickets, except Saturday only tickets, and pay the balance in June 2023.
You might also have the option for paying in three instalments with PayPal. Find out more information about this on the PayPal website. To use this option, put a full price ticket in your cart and select the 'Pay in Three' option when using PayPal to pay.
What if I have dietary requirements?
