Work in Progress- Sarah’s magenta boiled wool Claire coat
Hi! I’m deep into a very satisfying and immersive project at the moment - a heavy duty winter coat in this devine magenta boiled wool!
The coat is fully lined so I opted for a pretty Liberty style floral cotton lining for the body
... and more practical anti-static lining for the sleeves for ease of getting it off and on over winter layers!
The pattern I’m using is the Claire coat by Closet Case Patterns. We’ll be using this pattern in our coat making workshop on Sunday 11th November. We have 2 spaces if you fancy making with us!
The pattern contains a LOT of pieces so I recommend taking an evening to just cut out the paper pattern and familiarise yourself with any markings- you will need them all!
I then spent another (fairly long) evening cutting out the fabric, linings and interfacing, transferring notches and markings using a dampened chalk pencil then pressing on the interfacing. I put on a podcast and settled into it for a few hours!
Now to start the sewing!
I’ll be back with an update next week!
