Crafty Sew & So On The Road
Phew! We're just about recovered from last weekends adventure at Kirsty Allsopp's Handmade Fair. We had a fun but busy weekend, taking our favourite dressmaking fabrics, all the My Handmade Wardrobe Patterns and our kits to a field in Warwickshire and talking to lots of lovely new people about who we are and what we do!
Ragley Hall was the perfect setting for the weekend. We were lucky and had decent weather, meaning people were able to have a nice wander around and enjoy the beautiful countryside as well as the crafts and workshops. We were joined by lots of lovely other designer makers and stall selling fabrics and materials for crafting. No doubt everyone left the fair inspired to make something new at home.
We had our fair share of new dressmakers come to talk to us. We really want to encourage people to pick up dressmaking, which is why MHW patterns instruction booklets are packed with as much information to guide and support sewists who are just starting out. We sold lots of our Everyday Amazing Shift Dress and All The Cute Skirts as they are both ideal first dressmaking project!
While we didn't have time to go to any of the workshops ourselves, Sarah helped out Vicky (@sewvee on Instagram) run a wax print cotton circle skirt making workshop. They were kept busy as 12 women all sat down to sew their skirts in a hour and a half! Vicky did a fantastic job running the workshop, in fact, she ran it every day! We'd love her to come run something similar here if she's up for it (hint, hint).
I even got to meet the lady herself- Kirsty did the rounds and popped by the Crafty Sew & So stall to have a look at our fabrics. She took away with her three meters of the gorgeous cotton sateen we've named now named after her.
Kirsty is lovely, she has time for everyone and must have had her photo taken 1000 times over the course of the day. We're waiting for them to send the picture I had take with her and I'll pop it here when they do.
Did you been to the Handmade Fair before? Either at Ragley Hall or down in London? Did you have fun too?
