Hello everyone and welcome to my first Blog post. My name is Zareen and I work at Crafty Sew & So. And recently I have decided to join the lovely blogger team of Crafty...yaay!
I picked up sewing as a hobby during my 1st pregnancy since then I have been sewing on and off. But for the past two years I have been more loyal to my hobby and have spent my time into making a lot of projects after my girls go to bed. I have stopped purchasing ready to wear clothes for myself as I just personally don't find them comfortable and don't find coverage that I am looking for in the dresses that I want to wear.
Now, I don't know about you but I absolutely adore Lady McElroy fabrics. The design, the print and the bold colours make any garment beautiful. When we received the stock for the shop my heart was set on this beautiful fabric. And that mustard colour - oh my god! I don't know where it was hiding. It has honestly become my new favourite colour so I definitely would go for this!
Now on to decide what pattern to go for that would show the beautiful big bold flowers of this cotton lawn. I decided to hack the Tilly and the Buttons Stevie by adding a gathered skirt. It's super simple to work out yourself, just by adding a gathered rectangle of 46" wide by 24" length for the front and back.
And guess what I also added? YESS! POCKETS!! Who doesn't love having pockets on their hand sewn outfits?
I used the free PDF pockets pattern that Freya is working on - it will be available on our blog soon. I attach the pocket by measuring 3" down from the waist of the skirt.
And just see how lovely it look from the back as well. The tie details at the back makes this dress extra wonderful.
I would definitely be making more of this dress. And having little bit of sun before Autumn has given me a chance to wear it again and again.
Thank you for reading my blog post. Any dress made in this fabric will brighten your day... just like its lovely colour. How about MHW Ready to Party Dress? Or Tilly's Dominique skirt? Well I hope I have inspired you a little bit. Thank you once again.
