Spring has Sprung in our New Window Display
We're trying our hardest to bring some sunshine to this dreary spring, and our latest shop window display has really helped bring some much needed colour to St Martins Square.
Between us we've sewn a new wardrobe for our lady mannequins, using our favourite fabrics from the shop floor. At the centre of our display is Rebekah's quilt, made with a selection of our floral cottons. We've used this as a starting place to choose the fabrics for the garments, filling the whole window with flowers.
We've included a lot of My Handmade Wardrobe patterns in the display. We’ve had such a fantastic response to our pattern launch and we love making them up in new fabrics to show off all the different options and design details to inspire other sewers.
We paired the Everyday Amazing Shift Top in a triple crepe and the Miette Skirt by Tilly and the Buttons in a navy floral linen look cotton. The pinks in the two fabrics work perfectly together and make a really cute outfit! I can totally see this as an outfit I would wear everyday, for pottering around town or taking a walk in the park.
For this lady, we've sewn a Colette Juniper Blouse and a My Handmade Wardrobe Pleated Skirt. For the skirt I added a lining because I wanted to sew it up in this beautiful daisy embroidered toile fabric, which is sheer! To sew the lining in, I basted the two layers of fabric together and then treated it as one to form the pleats.
We've now sold through the Juniper blouse pattern, which is still avalible as a PDF from Colettes website. We have also reduced the price of all our Colette patterns to clear. Take a look and pick up a bargain, we have some favourites in stock!
The little mannequin is wearing a children's pinny dress we run as a workshop, it's a lovely quick project, usually ran as an afternoon workshop and makes a beautiful gift. Keep an eye on our workshop listings for dates coming soon.
Finally we've paired a hot pink corduroy Cleo dress by Tilly and the Buttons with our free simple tee pattern in a floral jersey fabric. Sadly, we have now sold through the jersey fabric, but have a lovely selection of alternatives for you to choose from online and in store! We do have a couple of meters left of the pink corduroy though!
If you're in Leicester, do pop by and see the window in person. We'll continue to hope for warmer weather and sew summer clothes in hope that it comes soon!
