Sew a Little Love - Join our fun Sewing Exchange!

Join us to sew and send a little love to other sewists during the UK Lockdown.

If you're anything like us, we're all feeling a little deflated by the current lock down and worried about the wider effects of Covid-19.  While we know that staying home is what is best, we've felt so grateful for the internet, and Instagram and Facebook especially, for allowing us to carry on connecting with friends and other sewists, making life feel a little more 'normal'.

The support we give to each other at all times is so wonderful but it’s in times of adversity that the sewing community really shines! I’ve heard stories of hundreds of headbands, hats and scrubs being made for our wonderful NHS staff and lots of you are keeping each other’s spirits up by sharing inspiring tutorials, buying craft kits for loved ones and making handmade gifts to share your love at this time.

To celebrate the sewing community, we are organising a little gift exchange, we're calling Sew a Little Love!

We're inviting everyone to sew a very simple project to share, and have provided a tutorial and template here to help you make it.  These heart shaped needle cases are SUPER easy to sew, probably using materials you already have to hand.  We wanted to make this a low cost exchange, allowing as many of you to join in as possible.  The sewing community can be such an inclusive place and we totally want to encourage that!

So, how will it work?

First, fill in the form below and we will send your information off to another sewist so they can send you a small gift to brighten your day.  You will also be sent the details of a different sewist to send the love to.  It's that easy!  Everyone should send and receive one gift each.  You're very welcome to let the sewist you're gifting to know who made their present, but we won't be spoiling that surprise, so it's up to you!

Sign ups close on 2nd May so don't delay...

Sign-ups have now CLOSED

Feel free to send additional gifts alongside the needle case, but there is no obligation to include more. The idea is to send a little love to others and brighten their day.

Alternatively, the needle cases offer a fantastic base for personalisation and decorations - why not add a little something. Maybe include a some applique or embroidery.  You could include your recipient's name or initials, or an image they're fond of - like florals, or cats, or gin!  Use fabric, ribbons, buttons or heat transfer vinyl, bondaweb or thread, or whatever you have to hand to make your gift personal and truly special.

Please post your gift by Saturday 16th May

We'd love it if everyone would open their gifts on the same day to really share the love! So if you can bear to wait to open your gift on Saturday 30th May please do share a pic with us all on Instagram or Facebook!

You can find the tutorial for the needle case on our blog.

Wait, there's more!

There are prizes to be won too! We've partnered up with some of our favourite small businesses to offer a collection of prizes.

One participant, chosen at random will win each prize, so there are EIGHT chances of winning!  Don't forget to provide your email address when you sign up.

To enter the competition, you MUST be following Crafty Sew & So on Instagram or Facebook and be following our partners accounts too.  Take this chance to support some fantastic small businesses.

We would also ask you to share this badge and use the hashtag #sewalittlelove2020 to show you are taking part and encourage others too.

SMALL PRINT - All data will be kept under GDPR and deleted once the challenge has been completed at the end of May 2020. Only your gifter and Freya and Sarah from Crafty Sew & So will have access to your data while the challenge is running. We hold no responsibility for lost post or items, we hope everyone who signs up will do so in good faith and be willing to be part of our sewing community. Anyone who is unable to send out a gift should let us know asap so we can organise an alternative for their giftee. This gift scheme is open to anyone in the UK and EU. Please make a note if you are NOT willing to send outside of your country on the Google Form. Please leave at least one full week for post to arrive with your recipient, more if they are in a different country to you.
