Come to a crafty sewing retreat hosted by Crafty Sew & So!
We are planning a super exciting sewing event for 2020 and we'd love you to join us!
Tickets will go on sale at 10am on Sunday 1st September!
The Crafty Sewing Camp is organised by Freya and Sarah from Crafty Sew&So. We are enthusiastic and passionate about the sewing community and providing an inclusive, creative event where you can build friendships and learn new skills with like-minded sewists.
The Crafty Sewing Camp is a three-day event where guests will get the opportunity to re-live the classic school camp experience while immersing themselves in a friendly, supportive social and learning experience.
The main focus will be on sewing, with free-sewing time throughout the weekend in well-equipped sewing rooms.
There will also be a variety of short masterclasses and workshops to attend, bookable after you have purchasing your camp ticket.
We will provide most of the materials and equipment needed for your workshops however, all attendees must BYO sewing machine, materials and tools unless you buy a hire package.
Accommodation will be dorm-style in bunks which we hope will help foster a sense of community and keep camp affordable for all sewists.
When is the Crafty Sewing Camp?
The date is 31st July -2nd August 2020. Entry will be from 4pm on Friday, the event ends at 4pm on Sunday and you will need to be off-site by 5pm.
What should I pack for camp?
Please pack comfortable clothes, activewear if you are interested in taking part in some outdoor activities and, of course, your sewing machine.
There are a limited number of sewing machines available to loan for the weekend additional cost.
We suggest you bring a pre-cut dressmaking project or small sewing project as cutting table space will be limited.
Can we bring alcohol?
Absolutely, we just ask that you drink responsibly. We may even have a sneaky glass of something sparkling when we arrive too!
Where is it all taking place?
Beaumanor Hall is a Victorian country house located in Woodhouse, Leicestershire. Set in 34 acres of idyllic countryside, Beaumanor has been run by Leicestershire County Council since the 1970’s and plays host to a variety of events including Weddings, Conferences, Kids activity days and Scouts and Guide camps.
The Facilities we will be using include classrooms with plenty of plug sockets and natural light, a large sports hall where the markets will be taking place and there will be space for socialising and handcrafts, a large open grass space for relaxing and some outdoor sewing (weather permitting), a dedicated camp-fire space and dorm blocks with social break-out areas which will be used for small workshops and food.
What will our rooms be like?
Accommodation will be in “dorm-style” rooms. Rooms sleep 15-20 in bunk beds or 2 in private bunkbed rooms. Private rooms are limited and incur an additional subsidy.
If you let us know the names of your friends that are attending in the notes section when booking, we will attempt to put you in a room together. Please bring your own bed linen and pillow as there will be none provided- a sleeping bag is ideal.
What will we be eating?
Catering will be provided by Beaumanor Hall and external caterers.
We will have pizza for dinner when we arrive on Friday night, cooked breakfast, sandwich and finger food lunch and Barbeque dinner on Saturday as well as a continental breakfast and sandwich platter lunch on Sunday before leaving. Morning and afternoon tea will also be provided and refreshment facilities will be available throughout the day. Feel free to bring a few sneaky snacks.
